Right, I've got a 1.8 series 2 Zetec that needs an oil change (it's blacker than black ) Anyway, the mileage on the car is over 150k So, was wondering, do I stick to 5W-30 or go a little thicker to protect the high milage wear n tear etc? 10W-30? 10W-40?

Opinions please

stick to 5w 30 m8 cuz the thicker oil sticks the tappet up and makes them tick also it was made for 5w 30 so best to stick with i think

only use 5w30. my 1.8 had done 100k when i bought it, i stripped it and rebuilt it and it had very very little wear

DO NOT PUT 10w-40 in ther i done it and i've had to rebuild the head cos the valve got stuck in the guide,managed to do it on the cheap but its taken a week,2 machine shops and the best part of £200,plus all my time,,,,

but at least i know its a good un now

that not mention the new lifters,i tried before i took the head off,,@ £7.50 each,,16 all together you do the maths,

stick to 5w-30 its the best way trust me

You want to be using a thicker mineral oil on older cars, with sagging oil ways. At 10-15 years old, your Fiestas are still as fresh as daisys
