basicaly peeps i need sum advice i bought a fiesta si wid a 2ltr conversion in it half stripped down because basicaly the person who did the conversion put the engine in with wrong water pump so he thought and then couldnt be botherd 2 finish it off so i bought it took waterpump out bought a new water pump frm a 1.6 fiesta si and well the pumps are identical and a friend of mine told me the fins on the pumps shuld be different as one of the pumps should pump the water different .... so the reason for the person thinkin they handnt put right pump had syptons of car overheating and water boiling up... when i took the water pump off the car it was in a bit of a state it was reli rusty n corroded and was leaking slightly but surely this would not cause the car to boil up the water in the fill chamber n blow the cap off?

and ideas would be great cheers...

i was thinking head gasket :|

Either the pump broke and did the headgasket, or it was wrong pump, or headgasket just went

ryt ok the only other thing that i remeber now is that the alternator bracket was broke so the alternator was basicaly bien hled up by the belt and if im correct this belt drives the pump to yh? so if there was not enough tension on the belt because the bracket on alternator had snaped wouldnt this stop the pump from working efficently because the belt would be slipping on the pulley?

cheers for youre advice if any one else has any ideas im thinking it is Head Gasket to be honest but i dont wont to go to the trouble of replacing it if its not the problem...

umm.. not sure if the top bolt would do anything, doesn't help though that that bolt is broken :cry: , but its mainly the tensioner pulley that keeps the belt tense

is that done up correctly? and you getting the correct tension on the belt?

i'm not sure on a HG change, just take the head off clean the surface on the head, get head skimmed then put new gasket on, torque bolts up to correct torqure-i-ness :hsugh: :lol:

re-do timing etc

i'm not to technical, but i think thats the just of it, get a haynes manual ;) tis your fiesta bible :teehheee:

because i have jus been 2 see a friend who is a mechanic and is telling me the new water pump is the wrong 1?

why did he say it was wrong?

if your using a 1.6 Si or a rs1800/xr2i 16v water pump then your fine

ah not sure on the escort pump, not sure which way that goes, all i know is fiesta zetec stuff = spins right way and the mondeo pump = spins wrong way
