Hi

Not a Fiesta query but somebody may be able to help.

My missus has a Merc C180 Kompressor and this morning on the way to work the idle was all over the place, sometimes it was normal at about 750rpm but other times it was "hunting around 850 to 1000, and when I parked it up the idle was around 1500rpm!!!

Could it be the air flow meter, similar to FSI problems or as it has a supercharger could it be something more sinister!!

Any help would be appreciated.

do they have iscv's?, sounds like that or an air leak somewhere?

Depends if its just eratic at idle.

More likely to be a cam or crank sensor id have thought tbh, but which, it depends how the charger is behaving ;)

Its just the idle, it revs fine, might have to get it into the dealer for them to check on dianostics, but I know its not gonna be cheap.....

What year is it?

Whats the mileage like?

Could be a number things, ICV, EGR, Leads, etc etc, of which only EGR would throw up the EML :|

Thank for your help so far.

This morning, it was ok when cold and warming up but once warm the idle was around 1000 to 1500 and not constant......

There is a problem somewhere but is it ok still to drive? The charger kicks in at around 2500 so don't think it could be that, what do you think I should do?

Could be the coolant sensor. Had the same sort of problem on the Pulsar. If the sensor is dodgy it will think the engine is cold and adjust the revs accordingly like when you first start the car up (auto choke).

Find out where it is and make sure it's connected properly, and try cleaning it. Just hope it's not in as awkward a place as mine was :lol:

Cheers, will have a look some time this week, not used it since last week been busy with the Si.

There's not much space in the engine bay the engine is mounted down the car ie rear wheel drive (can't think of what its called)!! :red: So theres not a great deal of room!!

Just an update, it had a diagnostic test today which showed up a fuelling problem.

After a bit of fault finding the garage found it to be a split in a hose so air was bypassing the air flow meter making it idle too high and run like cr*p.

New one ordered from Mercedes should be here tomorrow.
