Hi guys, im new to all this,

Just got a annoying problem.
when im driving in any gear at about 3900 RPM the einge sounds twice as loud, i can even feel it vibrate more, after it gets passed 4000RPM its fine, this is quite worrying for as i travel on the motor way alot, and 3900RPM is a nice comfortable speed of 80mph, any advice?

Check your exhaust system, could be a slightly worn mount.

If it was the exhaust system. then surely it would make a louder noise when it reaches passed 4k RPM, 6000RPM probably sounds quiter than 3900, anotehr thing is if i take my foot of the accalrater as it drops down to 3900 it still amkes the same noise, the nosie is defnetly comming for the eingine, as my fiesta has done 95k miles is it likley that the engineis just worn? it sounds like a tank.

I think this could be something to do with every Si, I have a Mongoose Exhaust and on the motorway up to about 3900rpm it makes a bit of noise, but after 4000rpm like yours it quietens off when driving normally, mines only done 59k.

Could it be something to do with the torque as my peak torque is at about 4000rpm and the engine doesn't need to struggle so much??

However it shouldn't sound like a tank.

EDIT: But at 4000rpm if I boot it again it goes back to the usual roar....

I hope this is normal, the noise doesnt really bother me but i jsut think if im constantly on 3900rpm on the motorway and it making the loud noise i got a slight feeling that its not doing the engine any good, when i had my car MOT i asked some guy at the garage about this and he jsut said cuz they engine is old

I think it depends on your exhaust as ive noticed it myself and think its just a case of it resonating as mine is at about 3.5k Annoying yes but i dont think theres anything you can do about it.
