hey guys/gals, i have a water leak on my car and hold barly any water at all, 2 ltrs any more and it leaks from what looks like the top of the sump where it joins rest of engine! what could this be and how can i stop it! nearly got chewing gum splodged onto it but i didnt think it would work, any suggestions are thankful

You can get some stuff from halfords that stops radiator leaks but i your leak sound a bit too large for that to work

can you get a pic of where it is?

i think it could be your water pump, or a hose

but a pic would help 8-)

thats the crank pulley

i think it could be your water pump, that has gone and is leaking down the crank pully and onto the sump

if not have you got mayo under your oil cap or oil in your header tank?

could be your head gasket

but i think its the water pump

ive checked the oil and its not yucky(lol) looks how it should be! apart from there is no oil in the car! oops is a water pump hard to change?? there about 35 quid on ebay i think... thanks for your help mate! all i ever have with this fekkin car is problems! its my birthday next week yea 19 so im going to treat myself to an audi a3! yum yums

The water pump is cheap, changing it is a lot of work.

You will also need a full timing kit/Belt.

water pump very common fault, a pain to change, cambelt has to come off :rolleyes:

Sound like waterpump to me, seems as you put water in and it come straight outa under the water pump.

If youve got no oil then it could be a number of things.

if you had someone else fit a new water pump on it, ring the idiot up and tell him to come back and do the job and finish the job how it should of been otherwise ask for some money back.

i got my water pump done, was about Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£50 to fit (already had parts)
