Just changed mine over along with the drive belt and the squeak has gone.

Just to add to chop_suey's instructions it is real easy.

Once the car is jacked up and wheel is removed along with plastic arch covering and another cover hiding the drive belt.

The pully that you want is just above the alternator to the left.

There should be another pulley of similar size, just above(this is the one with a sprung arm), put a spanner (15mm) on that and turn it clockwise to slacken the
belt. the rest is exlpained well enough by Chop_suey (no affence intended mate just thought i'd add a bit more detail

).

This is on a 1.6 Si 16v so the layout may differ on the 1.4 but i doubt it.

Am i glad i came on here, had to listen to this squeek for over a month now, was thinking of getting a new cam belt but i think ill get one off them pully thingysl

Got, mine done too, the annoying noise has now gone. Didnt bother getting a new drive belt and iam not spending anymore money on the engine, cam cover gasket and cam seals need replacing so not gonna bother and go and get myself a 2.0L.........ALL I NEED NOW IS A JOB !
