right basicly i was in a head on collision last night in my mate clio i was a passanger the car was all legal and that and we was doing 30 mph in a 30 and a pissed guy in a astra came at us at about 60 and swerved onto the same side of the road as us hitting us wrote of both cars the guy tried starting his car before we got out when i got out of the clio the guy put his hands up and was like im sorry guys totally my fault ive had to much to drink and ran off my hip and shoulder is now bruised my lower back hurts and my ribcage is killing me and had the day of work aswell today and you seemed like the sort of guy who knows what to do in theese situations i.e what can i do what should i do what can i claim him for ?

From experience your mates insurance needs to be called and police also need to be called to try and find the guy. Make sure both of you write down exactly what happened then also contact a solicitor with a no win no fee policy, one more thing make sure you go see your doctor asap about your injuries so the claim can be made.

Yeah, you absolutely have to cover yourself. If you didn't go to A&E, get a doctor on call out or the first available appointment tomorrow. You will need checking out. Make sure you and your friend talk to the police in great detail, drunk drivers are a hated element within the police force so if you get on it quick, they will be more helpful. Use the police to find out the other parties details and contact their insurers directly, do not go through yours, seriously. Once you have contacted the other parties insurers and started the claim process inform them you shall be using a solicitor (no win no fee etc, I do recommend National Accident Helpline) and then contact the solicitor.

You need to do everything in a proper manner and certain sequence to help your case.

Can't say much more than above, get evidence of all injuries asap and don't down play anything with the doctor.

police were at the scene of the crime and ive been checked by the paramedics in the ambulane and all they did was poke my cuts

First of all, before you go calling those claim companies, do you have any kind of legal cover on YOUR insurance or breakdown cover? I have it on my RAC cover and they done everything for the claim, and they don't take any kind of cut out of your compensation because you're already paying for the legal cover.

I had an accident whereby the bloke admitted liability. 2 days after the accident I had to go hospital as my back was killing me, but that never happened straight away. Immediately after the accident, had a sore leg and groin, next day neck was stiff, day after was my back. I got my legal cover involved to help speed up claiming off his insurance for my car, and continued with the compensation. I had to have physio, go to an independant medical assessor, but still let them do all the leg work.

If you haven't got any kind of legal cover, then you will have to get in touch with a compensation company, whereby they'll take a cut of anything you get.

Fucking drink drivers. Scum bags. That could've been so much worse!
