Its just like a mobile computer really, and in this thread we are now looking at doing things that are also easily done to your computer :lol:

overclocking etc.
It's not like we are talking about it making us a toasty. Most people that say they only use it to phone have a smart phone.. So why do they have one? :lol:

You can either put a rubber cover over it or cut 2 fingers off... my phone doesn't need either.

Ok here we go we can do a simple comparision, I have a good old W880 so will use that.

Which is the best mobile(1) phone(2)

(1) The W880 is smaller a lighter therefore more mobile 1-0
(2) They both can be used as phones so 2 -1

2-1 to the W880

So by definition the W880 is the better mobile phone.

But in todays world some of us don't like to use our phones just as phones, we like them for the extras, surfing on the move, playing games while were bored. sending picture messages to friends, checking emails etc etc etc etc.

Which your phone cannot do.. 100 - 2 to the smart phone.

I am talking about mobile phones here.

I still don't see the smart bit, they suffer very much from the jack of all trades master of none problem.

This advert gets me:

The pool bit gets me the most, while you all sit there filming me on your smart phone I will be in the pool having fun.

If anything the windows 7 phone adverts hit more of a chord with me, turn the things off you have much more fun that way.

You not believe it can be bad for you having so much at your finger tips, if someone tweets on there phone they are at a wicked party they clearly aren't as they are fucking about with there phone, I go off the grid for a while and have fun.

But you are making a comparison with smart phones, which is what this thread is about. Smart phones, and overclocking etc. :lol:

You have a mobile phone, fine.
But we get smart phones to use as smart phones, just because a big company makes an advert about videoing someone by a pool, doesn't mean we all do that. (although it would save on taking a video camera on holiday!)
I use my phone to keep me amused while i'm bored. to browse the internet, to check my email, etc etc. I have a use for it where as you clearly don't.
Doesn't make it a bad thing, and doesn't make a mobile phone better, I certainly enjoy having everything unlimited and only paying Â£20 a month and not paying anything for the phone, whereas a simple mobile you have to pay for then top up with credit all the time.
All depends on what you want yourself. Just because a big brand company shows things, doesn't mean thats how were going to use them.

My phone costs me Â£10 and is unlimited (good as for what I need), thats probably way I would be in the pool (an extra Â£10 spent on vodka).

Trust me smart phones are leading us one step closer to extinction.

Now this advert is a slight exaggeration, but only slight, I do see similar things in manchester at times.

I must admit, I have a very old Sony C902 or whatever it is, and I'm forever on the Missus iPhone4 until I get one.

When I'm out and about, in Starbucks/Costa I can quickly check my e-mails and websites on Wi-Fi, I get notified when I get an e-mail too, which is handy, I play quite a few of the games (Angry Birds anyone?) and of course I could use it to text and call, but I have my phone for that.

It's great for sharing an online diary with each other, or a group of friends, so you all know when you're gonna be doing something together or when you're free, it's quite an important social thing in this day and age, as real life IS on the internet, as that's where people are these days, on forums, text or video blogging, reviewing, buying, selling, working, reading books, watching movies, listening to music etc

Although a phone is just a phone, you now have the choice to do what you want with it now, be it standard or smart. Oh the choices!
