Why cant ford go back to doing rs badged fiestas again? They havn't even got an st now.

Found this pic, imagine how awesome it would be if ford made these:

Ford have kind of lost the plot in terms of fast fords nowerdays I think. They dont even have a fast modeo anymore either! :doh:

The way things are going now in the car industry, saving the planet etc this is becoming a common thing

The old days i think are gone for good and its not just cars but a lot of things :frown:

there is a rumer within the salesmen at my garage that there will be an st comeback as the rs took off so well.

we will have to wait and see though :hmm:

I hope so! I think mole is right tho, the way things are going with new emissions laws etc fast cars are just not really doable any more. Its a real shame.

yeah thats why there isnt a st at the moment because ford is trying to be as green as possible :doh:

Thing is.. If people like Ferrari, lambourgihni, aston martin can all stay in business with cars much much faster than the likes of ford. Surely ford would be able to bring out a n affordable, yet fast and sporty car like the new focus RS and sell it. I think to be fair the RS is a statement that there is a demand for them, didn't they sell out on the first batch or whatever? And they were Â£30,000 cars. Maybe they thinks like the "sport KA" are replacements.. But to me they are not a nice car.

This might be a bad example but Nissan? There skyline is epic, espeically the new one, and there a company that also sell micras! Granted alot of cars are becoming smaller, more economical, less tax, blah. But that's just not a turn on for some people.. Even if it does cut down eviromental bits.

I know what you mean mate! You would think they would set aside a separate budget for fast fords or something. Apparently its been said that the new focus rs is the last ford to wear the rs badge.

It seems the way things are going, its more trendy to have an "econetic" badge or "bluemotion" badge on the back of your car nowerdays rather than "rs" or "gti" etc. :doh:

I asked ford when getting my car and they said the zetec-s mountune was as close as your gonna get.

saying that though ford never built the Mk6 concept which i thought was rather sexy:

Think the small hatch market is too small. You only get warm stuff or it starts making the big stuff look naff; ala Clio 200 vs FRS.

i think ford have been pestered into going a tad greener, its all mpg these days and lower taxes, in my eyes only way we going to get a fast ford is if we go pre 2008 or really fast fords pre 95, my two cents anyways :thumbsup:

Fair enough it is based on the mk3, but just felt totally different to drive etc and just didn't have any character at all :thumbsup:

I had a mk4 golf, it was fast, comfortable, but i felt like every other with a golf mk4.

I went back to old, cheaper to buy, cheaper to run and more fun.

I'm with you there mate! Older cars are more individual on the road too and so they stand out more, and as you say, cheaper to run.

Also, you arn't losing silly amounts of money on depreciation! 8-)
