AOL sucks teh c0ck! I'd never install any AOL software on my PC as frankly I have enough problems as it is. "Free Trial for 30days (Then spend 30years getting all the dodgy software off your Pc) ![]() ![]() |

You gotta love the press. A story about Yahoo and MSN so they use a screen shot of AIM. ![]() ![]() How do I actually use it though? I can't see any way in either MSN or Yahoo to add users of the other service. ![]() |

Ollie although I haven't got the newer version 7.0 of msn I think this is a future release idea. Scotty it's good then, that they are competing against AOL - crusaders if you will. And my opinion: I dont think it's a great idea for a couple of reasons but im not gona be the one to say "That'll never take off" |

I'll have a look at MSN tonight and see if I can add Yahoo people... maybe I can, lol, but maybe it is for future release. They're not really teaming up against AOL, just against AIM. Not that it really makes much difference because AIM teamed up with ICQ years ago so all their really doing is leveling the field. It's not about it taking off really, there isn't anything to "take off" as such. Both services are already established and running with many members. It's more to do with interoperability so that people can talk to members of either service together as though they were all part of the same one. Conversations including people from both MSN and Yahoo for example. It's a good idea really because it means you don't have to sign up with both services to talk to people on them, you just have to sign up to one and you can talk to people from either. It allows people to choose more freely which they join rather than be forced into it by the majority. ![]() |

i always thought it was strange how you could use yahoo email addy's for messenger, nevermind most other email address's. i can't really see why it's useful though tbh.. i don't know anyone on yahoo, as i don't use it ![]() |

But you see, now you CAN get to know people on Yahoo because they're compatible. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

yeah points taken however: features will collide.. more messages coming up like: (ex:) yahoo user: You must upgrade your version of msn messenger to receive this wink etc. (ex:) msn user: Recupient couldnt receive this because they are using an old version of msn messenger / yahoo messenger. there will have to be a new release of both clients so they can exchange the data more easily and so on.. But one of my ideas about it not taking off was: More features more users = more security risks, worms, viruses, more people who are incapable of protecting their machines from worms thus spreading them on and causing mayhem. Not sure. Paul |
