having owned both a 2.0 fiesta and a VTS it doesn't surprise me. Had a good run with my standard VTS with Mattyboys 2.0, there was nothing in it, mine started pulling away slightly after 90 but it really was the same really. So a cammed VTS... bye bye |

You need MEGA power to pull away from something. My GTi was 135bhp. My friends was 175bhp and I tell you, he was inching towards me in 4th and 5th. I've only been 'killed' by a few things in my time and it takes a shat load of power to do so! |

hate to say it i agree with scotty and tbh i dont think you would beat that vts they are evil little things like the gti once modded i know even with breathing mods on a gti or avts engien they respond really well and are a weopen to most cars |

Such a Ford owners attitude. "I'll just bang more power into it". |

Was my comment anti-Ford? No. It was stating 'more power' was such a typical Ford owners comment. There's a lot more to making a car quicker than more power. I guess some people are just into modifying to boast about what they can beat. (In a straight line) |

WellI don't really modify my cars. I learnt that driving skill has far more impact than the minor mods you do to a car. If I were to suggest things to do, I wouldn't waste money on engine up grades on a Zetec NA engine, I'd suggest making the best of the chassis as you can enjoy ripping round the corners faster than some wild eyed chav in his 250bhp ERST. Not with some £200 G-Max special either. I'd fit some lightweight wheels in a reasonable size. Fit excellent tyres suited to the car. Fit a limited slip diff. Eliminate the chassis flex that happens in a Fiesta with some braces. Alter the diameter of the ARBs on it to tune out some of the roll. Remove unnecessary weight like manky spoilers, heavy unsupportive seats and big sound systems. I'd renew all of the bushes in the suspension and fit some good quality dampers, either OEM or something slightly more suited to harder driving. (note: no coilovers!) It all boils down to the driver at the end of the day. |

Well as far as braking and handling goes its not too bad but i know there is room for improvement. Iam already running a ERST with LSD but need a quickshift and possible new linkage, the tyres are Continental Sport Contact2 195/40/R16, the brakes are Cossie 4x4 single pot with goodrich braided hoses & standard rear drums. Running spax shocks and springs, i think they are the VSX non-adjustable ones, although thats something that could be changed in the future. I do also plan on getting braces front and back and polybushes allround. The cars not light and chroming parts in the engine will add weight cause there not light but i dont have a sub in the boot and not interested in removing the interior. Standard Si wing seats i find comfortable and hug my body when cornering. |
