Im going to post my rant on here too, just posted on FT because i went on there first lol.

Prepare :D

Ok, last night i was on my way home at about 1am ish from the girlfriends when the steering goes heavy and pulls to one side (passenger).. so i stop, get out and guess what! Flat tyre! So i move up the road to a bus stop, look at the tyre, and good old camber has taken effect - to be honest, the tyre had been on there for over a year (and its budget one too.. not bad on -35mm spax setup).. anyway! I thought about trying to get closer to home and see if the tyre would stay on the rim because i didnt have the tools with me to get the spare out from the little tray under the boot and i was about 10miles from home too.

SO, i get about 5miles down the road (which took a good part of 45mins crawling along) and the tyre actually looks like its coming off the rim and the inner edge is now completely fucked, also, the tread is actually non existant! (to be honest it was on about 3mm anyway)... so i decided to break out the wheel brace and jack from under the bonnet..

The thing thats really annoying, is i cleaned my car out earlier in the day and took out all my tools and trolley jack as i had them in there for a couple of days for no reason to be honest lol...

Back onto the story lol.. I didnt actually think the wheel brace would fit on the bolt to release the spare wheel tray down, and guess what, i didnt, the bolt is a tiny bit smaller.. so i struggled with that, literally rounded it off, but got the spare out eventually - the hook was rusted inplace on the tray too where i dont think its ever been off lol.

THEN! i go to jack the car up with the stardard scissor jack, and i get half way up and the handle actually starts to bend around! So the handle was bent to a stupid angle, so i decide to see if i can put the car down... nope, bends the other way, so i gave up lol.

Luckily, this guy in a LUSH track ready capri pulls up and i ask him if he knows anyone with a trolley jack (at like 2:30am in the morning lol).. and luckily, he was a mechanic too - which i think is why we got along rather well lol - so he popped home and got one, and i got the spare on.. and i eventually got home at 3am :lol:

Time for a new tyre! haha.. plus, do the tracking, as i know its a tiny bit out on passenger side anyway, which doesnt help the inner edge lol.

Anyway, rant over! If you actually got through all of that, i would be impressed :D

Yeah the OEM Ford stuff = Sh*t

I always have a proper wheel brace with me in my car, although never have a good jack. And 90% of the time never have a spare wheel. Or if I do, I have the wrong wheel nuts :lolz:

Reminds me, need to re-do my RAC membership!!!

That sucks! I've never had the pleasure of using the ford jack but I guessed it would be pretty dire! At least the guy with the capri stopped to help.

I really respect ppl who stop and help, they could so easily just drive on past but instead they go out of their way to help you. When my si died in a busy petrol station and I had to push it out the way, someone in a polo appeared from nowhere to help and ended up jump starting to get me home! legend :chill:
