but i'm pretty sure they dont make parts for a 1.6, i could be wrong tho

Some kid phoned me up yesterday. Havnt spoken to him for a while, use to bump into him every now and then. Says we should meet up and starts talking about his car. Goes "yea yours is a 1.6 isnt it" I said yea, asked him what he was driving now. "a mk 5 fez, was a 1.25 but Ive put a 1.6 engine in it" I said "oright thats cool, what engine" "one out a cosworth mate". Now I know nothing really about cossies, but didnt think there was a 1.6 cosworth engine made, if there was sorry - I didnt know. I thought straight away this kid must be lying, he is making this up, so asked him what loom and ecu he was running, "I dunno mate, just got a company to do it for me, but its running about 180bhp" So I said "o right ok, will have to meet up at the weekend, you can pop the bonnet and Ill have a look and check it out. "yea yea cool, thing is it looks just like the standard engine, cuz it is just an unmodified engine in there" . LOL anyway Im gunna go see him and his "1.6 cosworth 180bhp mk 5 fez" I take it he is talking out his fat arse, or there is something I have never heard about? |

I am sure there was a 1.6 cossie rally engine, or maybe that was a dream. Still odds of it being in a mk5 don't seem likely. |

I think you should race him, and when you beat him explain that your supercharger is running an extra 37bhp than him, and that he just needs to get a bigger air filter and exhaust and he should get a nice 20bhp bump which should make it even between you two.

"If" he is running 180bhp, then surely he must mean the RST lump, but has become a little confused and the words RS Turbo have warped in his mind to read Cosworth

Thats possible actually woodsy. But he said the engine mouts were basically the same . I thought there was a fair bit of difference between the Rs turbo mounts and a stage 3 zetec.Lol @ ry. I think Ill probably do just that. Either that or just go thats not a cosworth engine u fucking willy wonka. |

Woodsy could be right actually! I know of 2 or 3 mk5's with RST lumps in them from zsoc and ukfn. So ignore my 20bhp comment. Tell him 50bhp instead.

Cosworth did make a 1.6, what do you think in the Formula fords!  1.6 N/a with about 180Bhp, so it is possible, if he has a bit of cash!

| im sorry this guy sounds unreal. he probably just replaced the rocker cover or something and now, since the filter and 'zorst 'upgrade' truly believes he is running 180bhp. only believable explanation is that he has a rst lump in there, but i thought that would be a big job. |
