Right, never done this before. Could be fun. I plan to recover in some vinyl material, to give a leather..ish look, just not so expensive. You will need a sewing machine! ----------------------------------------------------------------- So heres my plan. In fact this is what ive done so far. Im starting on the rear so let just see what happens: Rob up mums sewing box for scissors. Go to car and remove the 4 plastic screws from rear of seat, take out cushon. Right so the fabric is spray glued on, no easy way to do this, but youve got to peel of the fabric. Go slowly, SLOWLY, very slowly, try to remove as little foam as possible. Hopefully you will end up with something along the lines of: Ok, so now you need to remove the stitching. I used a pair of scissors, to just cut through the stitches then when they where apart pulled away all the loose little ends. If your seat now looks like this: Congratulations. You now have a template for the new material. END OF PART 1 |

Ok well what youve got now isnt very flat so, what i did was iron it out so its flat. Now you can make a decent template: Now i bet ul be looking at the two pieces thinking hhm, these just dont match up, hows it gonna go together? Basically, u need to pin it along the edge (look in photos to see what i mean) Start by doing a bit one side, then the other, etc etc till you get too the middle. One this is done, turn it over, and what you will see something that vaguely resembles a seat cover. Next your gonna have to put a straight stitch in by hand along the edge. This is so that it will hold in place when your using the sewing machine. Not the actuall seat cover, but a practice: Not very straight i know but thats why its a practice piece! Basically once thats done well you can take the pins out and will be able to run it through the machine to get a good strong stitch. Thats all for now! |
