If you running steel wheels and are changing to Alloys then yes, new nut are needed

you won't always need them, but i have found the longer nuts (chrome) are always easier. and locking nuts as a must imo |

to the best of my knowlege alloy wheel nuts are pretty std..there are a few diff types.... altho the std is a 12mm thread with a 60 degree conical seat. the std alloy wheeluts will do..unless your buying wheels with group A inserts...in which case youll need specific nuts for that which are sleeved and the top collar is flat...so the centralisation is done by the sleeve part of the nut..not the conical part like normal nuts....but trust me...if id had the inserts...youd know about it
