If you don't want to be changing calipers with the associated costs and bleeding work (a good pair of 280mm calipers can cost in excess of ?100), fitting a good choice of rotor and pad will make your car respond better. The best pad and rotor combination we have found is either Brembo standard (non-grooved) rotors with Ferodo DS2000 pads, or 6-8 grooved rotors again fitted with Ferodo DS2000 kit.

The best way to increase to braking power of the Fiesta is to combine a larger caliper with good quality rotors and pads, new hoses and new fluid.
[sierra saph cos 4x4/escort cos 280mm]
This conversion has been tried and tested, but requires the fitting of washers or a 5mm spacer plate between the hub and caliper. We think that washers are a bodge and a bit of a dangerous one, so having a spacer plate made up out of steel is the best and safest idea here. You will also need 30mm 10.2 tonne spec M10 bolts. A word with your friendly Motor Factor chap should sort you out, otherwise you should be able to find these bolts at a good hardware shop. Note that the standard 8.8 spec bolts are not safe for the job.
You will need to use Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4/Escort Cosworth brake rotors and calipers with this conversion These brakes will require minimum 15" wheels, although some types of 15" wheel will foul the caliper body, requiring some machining of the caliper or spacing of the wheel. Please see the notes at the end of this guide regarding wheel spacing.
[escort RS2000 270mm]
These brakes use 270mm x 30mm rotors with very similar calipers to the Cosworth setup mentioned above. Unlike the Cosworth calipers, these fit straight onto the Fiesta hubs with the Escort calipers.
[mondeo 260/280mm]
The 93-2002 Mondeos (with 4 stud wheels) and some of the Scorpios came fitted with 260x30mm and 280x30mm brakes. These brakes are a much closer fit than the Cosworth kit on the Fiesta hubs, but when fitting the Mondeo calipers, you will need to either machine approx 3mm from the hub to caliper mounting face, or space the brake rotor away from the hub face by a similar amount by making up a spacer plate (see the diagram on the right).
