I would definately treat the rust properly before trying to "hide" it behind the XR2i arches...

A tin of red oxide primer is around £5 in halfords... use a wire brush, sandpaper etc to get rid of most of the rust, paint on the red oxide... then simply spray over the top of it :)

You will have a slight fitting problem with the arches if you want the back doors to open :lol: nothing too hard though, many people have successfully put XR2i arches onto a 5 door :)

do you know where i cud get a new set of arches tho? most of the arches i've seen are also part of the sideskirt but obviously i just want the arches by themselves.

I haven't seen any for sale without the sideskirts, they always come as a kit. You could always just buy the sideskirts aswell, then sell them afterwards :)
