Post subject: | B&M Shorftshift Fitting |
I have just obtained a used B&M shortshift to fit to my Fiesta Si, I have the gearshift and knob plus some type of collar. I seen a picture of a new B&M kit on google images, as well as the parts I have it includes 3 short bolts, 3 longer bolts, 4 washers and what looks like a couple of rubber rings or possibly circlips. I was hoping that somone could let me know where I can get the parts I seem to be missing plus the fitting instructions that come with the new kit. All help and advice would be much appreciated! Thanks Andrew |

Have you got a photo of yours from the bottom? If its second hand possibly have all the bits as its all ready put together. I would think when you take standard gear leaver apart it will be self explanatory as It's very basic looks like a case of remove the two torque bolts from bottom to release the self centering springs, unbolt the top of the standard unit and replace with the b&m one refit the self centering bolts. Also worth looking at the linkage at the gearbox end as if this is sloppy will spoil the feel of the short shift |

what sort of advantages does shortshift give you over standard? and what are the cons? |

Quicker and shorter shift, less effort too. The mk3 gearstick has fuck loads of travel, making that shorter will make life easier because there is less effort. No cons tbh. |

Search it either on here or FT, all the info is around somewhere. Its basically a short shift on the cheap. MK5's and pumas have quite short shifts, so people swap mk3 for puma linkages. |
