I'm embarking on an entire reloom of the cabin of my car because of the amount of electrical addons I'm doing. My plan is to (eventually) find two 5 door fiestas in the local scrappy and strip the entire lot for ford wiring, connectors and other bits and bobs. Using one loom as the 'new' loom after cleaning up and stripping the insulation tape that wraps it up, the other will be used for wire and connector transplanting so that I have good clean connections on any soldering (I can stay in the warmth!) and the correct wire colours I either want or 'need' for keeping the loom authentic if you get my drift. The first step I've done is the wiring count of the doors front and rear. Pretty simple, everything has to get wire grounded and so on. One touch relays, electric mirrors and everything else mapped out. Then for the hard part. The main loom and fusebox. I've got a lot of plans here, one of which is a tell-tale for ALL exterior lights (dunno where I'd put it, so this section would terminate at some sort of junction box where I can add whatever I need to do at a later date.) Would you move some parts of the fusebox out of the fusebox and to somewhere else? I'm thinking of creating an engine bay fusebox for engine items and adding an engine run relay. What are people's thoughts on wire grounding everything rearwards of the engine bulkhead, instead of chassis grounding most parts? Would anyone be able to recommend any design tips, or even software to help plan something like this? |

Well designing it is a bitch! Got to work out a way of creating an engine fuse box tht runs the engine and lights and a separate internal fuse box for anything else. Need to get to the scrappy for a few hours to tear a fiesta apart to find out exactly where every single wire goes too. |

christ, this is going to be a lengthy process isnt it? |

Oh yes. Hence the two looms. One will be used as something to base everything on and modify, the other is a donor. |

will the fuse box not fit where it is located atm? or is there going to be a lot more on it? |

There'll be more on it for sure. Hopefully a mk4 engine fuse box container fits in a mk3 (should do). The engine fuses and relays can sit in there with as much light power as I can fit. I'm also going to fit an engine run relay in there which allows power to several functions in the interior fusebox. |

Oh the engine run relay is idiotically simple. Bosch 4 pin relay, and the alternator blue wire powers it. |

I'd reccommend using micro fuses to save space |
