ok so i have had no luck finding a set up for my car so guna buy everything indivually... any idea on how the hell to re-jet a bike carb? iv seen people mention drilling the old jet slightly bigger? how do i kno how much bigger alsooo will the like's of any performance managment run any set of carbs ? or would it be much easier to buy a set of gsxr1000 throttle bodies and run my own fuel rail? again will i need upgraded fuel rail or would a standered zetec rail work? pretty clueless with this so as much help needed pleasee ![]() cheers sean |

what engine are you looking to put the bike carbs on? i run a set of ZX6R carbs on a 1600 CVH XR2 engine in a kit car and a set of GSXR750 throttle bodies on a 2 litre zetec. First question i would ask is what engine and what year car basis of do you need to run a Cat for emmisions at MOT? |

i think it was 0.8mm you needed to drill the jets out to, but have you looked at buying 0.8mm diameter jets for your carbs?? as jets usually have a tapered hole, so they give a better spray pattern, if not, give bogg brosa ring as they do all that sort of stuff for the zetec engines, also worth looking on xrtwo.com as the chaps on there are very helpful when it comes to bike carbs on a zetec |

if purely a track day car then i would considded bike carbs as a cheaper alternative to throttle bodies and stand alone ECU. I started of planning to use ZX9R carbs and respaced them and made a manifold as photo in my link and brought a stand alone webcon 2D ignition only ECU but ended up going with GSXR750 throttle bodies and Emerald ECU. The ZX6 carbs i have on the CVH i think run 150 main jets, zetec expect to be larger, i brought a few sets of jets at £4 each from a motorbike RR shop rather than redrill and checked mixture with a basic narrow band lamba gauge and made adjustments to jets, needle position and idle mixture screws and runs well. I still have the 2D ignition ECU if interested? If you are thinking of throttle bodies say £100, ECU £300-£600 and then paying a RR to map £300 its not cheap. One thing to also considder is need to reduce the fuel pressure with carbs either replacement pump or special fuel regulator |
