got some annoying problems with my si spec fiesta si mk3.5 fitted with. xr2i 1.8 16v manual steering rack, uj and mk3 manual column, manual track rod ends, mk3.5 hubs, mk3.5 pas area six adjustable wishbones apprently the wishbones wont matteras there the same size apprently, but basically ive had lots of problems trying to get my si tracked up since converting to manual steering, it would track up on the drivers side just, but the passenger side ...no, the only way the guy could do it was to turn the steering wheel slightly left hand down about 10 0 clock instead of 12 oclock..... i get exactly 2 turns left and 2.5 turns right which is annoying when doing a 3 point turn the steering rack was a reconditioned unit, could it have the wrong tie rod arms on it does anyone think? as both garages who tried to do the tracking have said it seems like it needs shorter tie rod arms on the rack? im not sure if there are 2 types of length tie rod arm? ive thought about buying a mk3.5 1.1 manual rack... but not sure its really getting to me now and im just not enjoying driving it as much since converting it ![]() any help would be great ![]() the other issue is with taking the steering wheel off so many times the clock spring fell apart which i think does both the airbag sensor and self cancels on the indiactors and im thinking of getting rid of the airbag all together now, what is involed with doing this? and last problem i have is play on the drivers side top mount i have gmax suspension on the car which is 7 years old, and brand new floflex top mounts the passenger side is fine, the drivers side isnt when you take the top nut and cap of from the engine bay the shaft of the shock is pushed against the top mount like its at an angle not sure if maybe the suspenion could be bent or not ![]() ![]() any help would be fantastic ![]() |
