Mum has done a crazy thing, and bought a mk3 1.2 lx for 350 quid.
84000 miles, looks mint inside, need some work on the fuel cap...
but other than that, the car looks sound.

Now, I can take it on, not my first choice, but could be a good base for something.
Or give it to her boyfriend, who will need a car VERY soon.


Engine mounts are the same as? What bigger fiesta engine drops in easily? RS turbo lump?
Brakes and what not as well?
Suspension, can just get coilovers, or shocks and springs.. anything else, with the suspension?
any other little add ons, things to make it most desirable to me? :P

All engines drop in about the same on difficulty basis from the sub 1.6's. Brakes, best served by braided lines and a mondeo master cylinder and servo. Unless you're wanting to throw money at a full conversion just service any parts such as the suspension, as things can get confusing, what year is it? Is it a MK3 or MK3.5 as that makes huge differences with regards to suspension.

Go down your scrappy, and raid every fiesta you can, always good to have parts knocking around.

I dont know about mk3s but people usually stick st150 brakes on the mk3.5s as they are a direct bolt on.

mk2 mondeo brakes fit with just the caliper carrier bolt drilled out to 12mm, shocks and srings combo way cheaper than coilovers for a mk3

Cant be a 1.2, must be a 1.1.... if the shell is any good, keep it, use it, upgrade the engine.

Simple - 1.6 cvh.
More complex - zetec.

Brakes: ST150

Bodywork: Leave standard for the sleeper look.

Wheels + Tyres: Subtle - sleeper look.

Suspension: Coilovers all the way from personal experience with both shocks and springs + coilovers... if you cant afford it, just get shocks and springs, gmax are cheap, spax are better though.

Then go from there.

It has to be a 1.1 or 1.3 if its a mk3/mk3.5 the 1.25s came in with the mk5 (maybe late mk4s)
