Hello! Long time since posting in this section.

I'm thinking about getting two Gauges

Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature.

Now my reason being as i'm getting cams etc. Would it be a good idea to keep an eye on it? Now I have no idea what oil pressure is about  So dunno if thats worth me doing?

Also thought oil temperature as then I know when the oils warmed up so I can give it the beans.. So I don't stress my engine.

Orrrrr I could just be talking bollocks and it won't make much difference

I've got matching Oil Temp and Oil Pressure gauges for sale. Made by Autometer who are the same people who made the Ford Racing gauges

Good idea to have them even if it is just to keep an eye on things as if the oil temperature suddenly drops you know something isnt right and can make sure the oil is up to temperature before giving the car a good thrashing

There not top of my list, but just wondering if there worth the money for me to be keeping an eye on it all.

What price are you looking for? You may have sold them before I am interested but good to know the sort of prices they go for.

What do you want to know about oil pressure? How it works? Or what its for? Or both.

Tbh, instead of me typing it out, you could google it and go on the wikipedofile link thats probably the first one there lol

Oil pressure and temp guages on the Pulsar are sooooooo useful. Very good for keeping an eye on things :)

Oil pressure can be useful if you see it getting low before it gets too low, the current light you have usually comes on when its too late.

My Saxo had oil temp as standard and it wa useful to know.

Yeah the light on the fez is pretty useless.

I dont personally see the point in the gauges unless you are properly serious and/or have boost.

And as said, give me a call, ill tell you 'its fucked' lol

i will be having oil pressure, voltage, vacuum, and air fuel gauges on my fiesta xr2i. i have got one of them oil pressure adaptors from ebay only a fiver, well made as well! unsure whether the gauge will be accurate as its only getting readings from the original oil pressure switch which possibly makes the light go on and off. if you want to go for that then its the cheaper way probably as the other adaptor is a sandwich plate to fit on the oil pump. that maybe more accurate but unsure.

volts is another good gauge as well if linked up right, keep an eye on your alternator charging etc. vacuum is too see if there any leaks and losses in inlet, and also air fuel so you know the fueling is just right for car.

i have been thinking about gauges so i could mount them on a pillar pod but only want 2 was thinking about
1. oil temp
2.? probaly volts

but what 1 would you say would be most useful as i want oil temp to look after engine so i can see when it hot but undecided on the second gauge

i would go for oil pressure and volts. temp is ok but if you're engine remains healthly unless its tuned, you probably won't need an oil temp gauge as temps in standard engines remains around 80-90 degrees. the pressure gauge you will want so you know the oil pump is working fully and the pressure inside the engine remains constant so nothing goes kaboom!!

The reason I was going to go for temp is so that I can see when the engine is fully warmed up so I don't go thrashing it around when its cold :)

yeah sounds reasonable. in that case then get a sandwich plate for the oil filter location with two sensor holes and get the gauges! i have a set of swoosh gauges that i'm using because they were cheap less than £25 per gauge, they are the smoked gauges that go dark after ignition is off, kinda stealthy lol. go for what ever suits your style and what you know is good for eyes as remember you'll be driving with em on in dark etc. i personally wouldn't go for the pillar setup some people have said its quite annoying lol

I fitted a oil temperature gauge sensor in an adaptor sump plug the pressure gauge can be taken from the oil warning light tapping or by fitting a tee. I fitted a oil temp gauge just to see if I need a oil cooler last track day oil temp got up to 120deg which is getting towards max. Finally to many gauges can just give more things to worry about
