i asked this a while ago, but can neither remember or find the thread. so here it goes again... several people say you can't 2.0l the 1.4, only the 1.6, and others say vice versa. can anyone clear this up for me as i want to know if i can do it in the future? thanks, ben |

Its not you can't its just more work. With the 1.6 you basically replace the block and head with 2.0 items and off you go. With the 1.4 you need to change the engine loom and mounts as well as sourcing most of the aux parts off a zetec. |

hmm yes, that rings bells! wouldn't want to sell the 1.4 as it's my run around. so i could keep that, by a 1.6, get the shell near perfect and do the conversion on that? what do people think? would be much easier and would mean i could still drive? if anything, i could by a 1.6 whenever i have the money, buy all the parts, build it then when im ready, insure and tax it? getting me rather excited now ![]() |

Does sound like good plan. Out of interest an RST engine would go in the 1.4 without to many issues. |

Zetec imo is a more reliable route. Does sound like a good idea, buy tiababys if your willing to make the trip. |

No idea, at this point id like the driveway back so just seeing how long I can hold off stripping and scrapping it. Really would rather not see another si die. |
