Post subject: | Air filters/induction for the 1.1 |
I know this question has been asked time and time again but i can never seem to find the right answer. I have read viewtopic.php?f=13&t=11014 and this has helped me decide. I looked at the k&n element with a drilled air box but apparently this has a noticable difference on petrol usage? (Could somebody please confirm this) So now i am looking at an induction kit or similar, im not really too bothered about performance i just hate the sound of my hairdryer... i mean engine ![]() Instead of flaming/saying "get a bigger engine" i just want something to last me a year and with a better sound on it So basically what im asking is do they make an induction kit for the 1.1, and if so are they any good? And are there any other simple and cheap ways to get a better sound? e.g. can you put a cone filter on the end of the air pipe (if so is this any good?) Cheers guys ![]() |

the only difference in petrol usage is the noise will make you put your foot down all the time ![]() |

depends, on my 1.3 i had a k+n panel filter, the back of the airbox cut off to fit a strut brace ![]() |

how would you fit a panel filter? and also does the cold air feed come as a kit or did you make it yourself? lol Sorry for the stupid questions... not the most mechanically minded :p |

cold air feed i made my self ![]() And panel filter, undo the 3 screws that hold the airbox down, unclip the lid, remove old filter, fit new one, clip back down, refit the screws, and they are not stupid questions, what we are here for ![]() ![]() ![]() |

yeah i know about the filter... is it called a panel filter though? coz its not panel shaped lol changed my air filter like 2 weeks ago. it was the cold air feed that made the noise difference though lol... is that just some piping some jubilee clips and a cone filter on the end? |

Dont get the K&n trust me it makes the car bog down and go slower if anything lol. Best bet is to get a 1.3 airbox (which is bigger) fit a K&N standard replacement filter they sell them on there site, take off the warm air feed (the bit that goes down to the exhaust manifold) and fit a bit of tubing onto that as a cold air feed and drill the box ![]() |

Ha just Cut the End of the original Air box, Does no harm what so ever! gives it a throatier sound, Or just stick a pair of tights over the injector and leave her boxless! ![]() ![]() |
