I have a stock, series 2 2.0 zetec.
What are the processes/ modifications to turbocharge it?
I know the cams will probably need changing, but what else? piston rings, head gasket?
And a cvh turbo manifold fits the zetec doesn't it?

I really want a turbo haha

I looked into this not too long ago. Quite an expensive process but good for you if you want to do it

There should be a thread here somewhere when I asked about it. Think it's vauxhall calibra turbo pistons. Mk1 focus rs manifold an turbo. Nissan fuel rail and injectors. And the list goes on

Decent inlet manifold (RS1800/RST)
Any oversized "LET" pistons
Focus RS manifold and turbo, with ERST management

I was kinda hoping that the FRST e/manifold would fit the zetec, because you can pick up one of those with a turbo for about £50 haha.

Also, do you know what the best cams are to go with the zetec?

iirc you can also use mk1 frs rods and pistons in the silver top block, cam dont need to be changed i think i remember from doing my research that they are good for 350bhp in boosted form

you can use a decomp plate,but you'll be limited the amount of boost you can run, get adapter plates for a frst inlet and erst exhaust manifold, but the exhaust manifold adapter plate might move the turbo to close to the rad!

you can either use frst management, OFAB is the prefered option to go or megasquirt if you look at the turbo.me site

It tells you the pro's and con's of the different methods
Very helpful. So the best route for the FRST on a zetec is to change the pistons because then there is no downside and you can use full boost.
The compression plate method may be easier and cheaper however you can't use full boost and you have to change 2 head gaskets if they went wrong

The trouble with the piston and rod route is the price tag. Im doing a zetec turbo conversion as well and that (besides the management system) is by far the most expensive part. A set of wossners will set you back a cool £899, whereas the decomp plate is only £50. If you are only going to use a FRST turbo why pay so much when you wont get much out of it.

C20LET pistons and standard rods with ARP rod bolts

cheapest budget route yet still reliable enough to take a fair wack of boost! you'd ideally need a cossie T3 or as meilack said a T34!

FRST management when set up properly can still see 250bhp+
