I have a scorpion one and it is the same loudness as the standard Si exhaust, however it burbles, makes a nice sporty sound on revs and can pop if you haven't got a cat |

Get a 4-2-1 manifold / Sports cat / and cat back which has a slightly larger bore than your standard one, then whatever tail pipe tickles your fancy. But on your 1.3 its not gonna make a hell of a lot of difference i'd guess. |

true dat, even on the 1.6 it really didn't make any difference in the power, i could just feel the engine was breathing better. Maybe a bit of torque was increased ![]() |

Just get the standard size pipe, getting a bigger bore and loosing the cat will most probably ending up in loss of power. its mainly turbo'd cars that need the bigger bore and the decats. just do what i did get a custom exhaust place to put a stainless mid-section with no silencer box and also get a stainless backbox with a nice 3" or 3.5" tip. |

Post subject: | Re: Exhausts |
it wont not on a small engined car. ive looked into it and decat will only make the little 1.1/1.3 slower. |

Post subject: | Re: Exhausts |
decat does not always help, on a ST it loses torque for minimal gains in bhp so a sport cat is a much better option, and legal ![]() if you want a decat, get a precat ![]() on the 1.3 sports cat/decat will not make a difference. As elward says, get a cat back for the noise benefit as the 1.3 will never be quick. ever. Although i fitted a K+N round filter in my air box on my 1.3, ground the back of the box off to fit a strut brace ![]() ![]() |

Post subject: | Re: Exhausts |
it's all to do with back pressure, if you lose the cat and have a straight through system on a NA car it will make it slower ![]() And with low emissions zones cropping up in citie's and road side emissions tests randomly done, decat's are more dodgy |

on a performance car, a sports cat has less cell in and is less restrictive ![]() ![]() ![]() |

True on a smaller engined car your right, I was rather tired last night. But not all N/A cars because its the first thing everyone does with a ZS is a Decat/sports cat 4-2-1 and then a cat back to suit. This then gives upto 15BHP (obviously not always that much normally around 10) and there are plenty of RR's around to show that. But yes, I would agree that an engine like that your just looking at noise and not power ![]() |

i can hatch a pretty good bet that the manifold design gets the most of that power rather then the decat ![]() |
