well lads, quick question, did any of the mk3s come with a shorter rack than standard models?? as in less turns of the wheel from lock to lock, would love a shorter one if there was one, thanks in advance ![]() |

Would make sense as it was the flagship Fiesta. Try fiesta turbo.com for a rack, although last time I looked, a decent one cost a fair bit. |

Its that uncommon, I know my C2 VTS has a quicker steering rack than the other C2's. As mentioned trying to get one in good nick might be a problem. |

I think the Si with power steering is 2.8 turns. Not sure if you can use this rack without the rest of the power steering system? |

Post subject: | Re: Steering rack |
if your going to do that then you need to put a conventiona;l rack and pinion rack init because thats got teeth on the rack and the power steering rack uses a spool valve and forces fluid from one end of the rack to the other and wont work if you just sealed off all the holes as it need fluid to work. |

you will need to get a genuine ford rs rack, as i bought one for £17 new from a local motor factor and it had the same number of turns lock to lock as my 1.4 fiesta |

yup, was a genuine ford rack too, but was reconditioned then sold by a local motor factor (kevin cooper), whenever my car fails the MOT on steering rack boots or play in the steering arms, i just replace the complete rack as its much cheaper that rack boots plus its quicker and easier tbh |
