Hello :)

I've just bought some blue high temp paint. I'm gonna do my rocker cover (would like to do brakes but unsure how)
What do i do? Prep it with how thick sandpaper? Don't want the finish to have scratches all over it like my old lights did.

I was thinking just clean it, 1500 grit? Mask up the writing, Spray, then laquer.

Do I need a primer? Cheers :)

most people get a wire brush drill bit thingy and take it bk to metal if its been previosly painted, then loads of coats should see you with a nice finish
not sure bout laquer though

Nah its not been previously done, Oh :( Don't have one of those.
Just thought the laquer would bring out the shine :D

I've seen its best advised to use a wire brush or wire brush drill bit (like he said above) then use a degreasant then use between 2-3 layers to keep it good and shiney

I've used this guide for brakes and im guessing its similar when being done on the rocker cover

hope this helps

basically you want to make sure its has clean as you can get it and grease free

i recently cleaned one up without a drill and wire brush. i used a varied grade of paper on it and finished off with 1200 grit used wet and it was pretty smooth. i then etched primed the whole thing ready for top coat but thats as far as its going unless i cant sell it at Ford Fair

fair enough thanks :)

Gonna look at what i've got tool wise, gonna go mad cleaning it, then sand it down with some light wet dry, until as you say its completley smooth, once done then i'll mask it up and spray per instriuctions on the can. Hopefully doesn't need primer!
