well basicly i am toying with the idea of fitting a 1.6 into my car as the lack of power and torque are really starting to get annoying. but there is a slight problem my car is fitted with a carb. so which mounts, looms and things like petol tanks would i need? oh and anyone know any good insurance companys that will insure engine swaps? |

imo your best bet would be to buy a dog of an Si and just use everything from that loom, ecu, engine mounts, exhaust, fuel tank the lot ![]() |

IMHO i would save and buy an Si. after the time and money used to do this you could have brought an Si and got it the way you wanted. I wanted to turn my 1.8 Focus into a 2.0 by changing cams, ECU throttle body etc. Realised it just was not worth it. |

trouble is finding an Si thats not got major rust issues, they seem to be getting a pretty rare sight these days ![]() if you know your shell is solid i'd go for it ![]() |

if i know my shell is solid.... hmm it's quite sound underneath just a small hole in the sill. the fact that my engine has covered all the offside underneath with oil helps lol oh and the arches and around the filler |

agreed, 2litre it, if you put a 1.6 in it then your gonna be wanting a 2litre soon after. It would be cheaper to buy an si but that would defeat the object of making the car yours so definatly go for it if you have the time and money |

hmm i would 2.0 it but then i would get raped by the insurers and it would be like a 100% + power increse in one go and i have heard that 2.0s can be a little frisky at times lol. another point is that i dont want it to be madly fast i just want it to be a nicer car to drive |
