Well ive been reading topics on here for ages but thought it was about time i got around to asking a few questions
Tbh im a v-dub fan but always had a soft spot for mk3 fiesta si an rst!
Only 19 so been driving 1.4 mk3 golf se in mystic blue! But after finding out that the fiesta si 16v is in the same insurance group as the golf ive decided to take the plunge an im on the look out for a decent example of an SI :)
Anyways enough about me!
Is there any real improvement in stripping out the back of the interior in fiesta??
Also after reading about how crappy the brakes are i was wondering which is the easiest an cheapest front brake conversion to do??

cheers tom

There's no improvement in performance is stripping out the rear, there's not actually that much and even then it's pretty light. Aesthetics is usually the reason for doing so.

Cheapest brake option is the mondeo st24 disks and calipers, however that isn't direct bolt on, you need spacers and i think new brake lines.

However the best option is the Fiesta ST brake setup, however if you get that from a scrapyard or ebay it could set you back about £300-500
But if you join an ST owners club you can pick them up for about £100-160

:)

stripping it out does make it a bit quicker cos i did a comparison before and after against my mates zetec s, it does make the back end skip about when u brake heavy from high speed though

I'd prefer a balanced ever-so-slightly-slower car than one that could potentially kill me around corners. It looks good, but to make it safe you're gonna have to do a fair bit with the suspension and tyres. Play it safe, and it's sod's law that you take everything out and then people want lifts somewhere and you can only seat one passenger!

Lol yeah i must admit the Si's are a bit lively on the rear :P

I once had a full car with 3 people in the back, went around a roundabout in the wet and WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! haha
Was fun, like a drift.... only it's FWD :P

 cheers for the reply guys!

I do like the stripped out look however i think it really depends if i can get my hands on a decent 3 door,as i think its kind of pointless on a 5 door!

Looks like im gunna have to start hunting for a set of st150 front brakes then :D

if your getting a 1.4 or 1.6 the standard brake setup is good enough anyway with some decent pads in, the st 150 setup would be a bit of an overkill for the si unless its 2.0 id say, even then id only get a 260mm setup from an rs2000

tbh simple way of balancing the weight distribution is putting the battery in the boot this gets rid of the skipping etc. i never had a problem when mine was stripped out so i dont see why yours would, and at end of day its all down to the driver, i could beat Vtr's in my si simple cause i knew when to change gear. so theres many factors to doing it, now whoever says that it doesnt make the car go faster i will happily strip my Rs out and take you for a Spin and trust me you will see the diff. peace. Si brakes are the same as rs turbos, rs1800 etc, there more than adaquete. fit bigger brakes = lock up easier.

Put some new brake fluid in, (chances are its never been changed in its life) get a decent set of pads (pagid, ate) job done. Braided hoses. Stops on the button.
