Post subject: | Audio Setup |
I want to sort out a decent audio setup for my Si and I've been looking around. I'm thinking either the Kenwood KDC-6047u http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/pr ... KDC-6047U/ or the Alpine CDE-113BT http://www.roadradio.com/Alpine/CDE-113 ... lAod43tKdA for the head unit. I really want something to charge and control my iPhone and both of these look good for the job. Then for the speakers, i have never really been into deafening bass and i dont want to lose much (if any of the boot space) so didnt really think about getting a big sub. I was gonna get some 6x9's to get an alright and goodish bass. However i have seen bad reviews in other pages on here. I had been looking at jbl, pioneer or alpine speakers. What do you guys reckon is the best set-up for the si (considering it will mainly be playing rock music), is an amp a must and just to make it more difficult a challenge the budget is pretty minimal. Thanks in advance for any advice i receive. |

6x9s get more bad press than they deserve, a good set can provide a good range of sound with good quality. I have some rather beasty kenwood 7x10s I was going to get up for sale soon if you are interested. |

I prefer Kenwood to alpine, on speakers that is, because i used to have a set of alpine door speakers and tbh they were worse than the standard ford ones, and kenwood ones are much much better. As for headunits i have a kenwood KDC-4044UG... i got that mainly because it had a green backlight lol, but as for perfomance it is very good, loads usb very quickly and accepts FAT32! ![]() I don't like 6x9's personally, and i know you can acheive the same quality sound just by changing the original rear speakers. And for subs, if you still want boot space... do what i did and got a 'Stealthbox' so it hides it in the corner and you still have 85/90% boot space depending on what amp you have lol |

what i would do is get the installing done right as most people cut cost and this can make you system sound shit .. I like kenwood and panasonic but i find you got a better out put with panasonic but this up too you also down to the person i guess when getting 6x9 or 7x10 they sound better if you have a Acoustic Parcel Shelf http://www.parcelshelfdirect.co.uk/ i nomal take the seats out to do my wiring also make shure you get the speak wire right too the + and - don't want them out of phase ![]() |

The man speaks sense, I was running the 7x10s on an amp on a proper shelf and people thought I had a sub. |

I got round the doors rattling by using the high pass filter at 125hz on the front. |

Percy... How much are you thinking of selling the speakers for?? I have started to make my own shelf to put the speakers onto underneath the parcel shelf, a stealth shelf i believe its called which looks pretty much what the acoustic shelf is doing. although im not entirely sure how well my own version will work lol. So am i guessing the amp is a must? does anyone know a good mid range amp thats simple to set up... as you may have guessed im no expert |

I do actually have an amp to run them too, where about are you? just so I can figure a posted amount if needed. Send me a PM and I will see what I can do for you. It very good stuff, If you could see the 'parcel shelf' of the C2 you will see why I am getting rid, there is nowhere to fit them. |

now i once thought i was quite good with computers but i've now written a pm to you percy but i cant figure out how to actually send it, it seems to just stick in my outbox. what do i need to do to send it lol. Basically it says im from Worcester, West Midlands, and i dont really mind driving, got to stretch the fiestas legs every now and then. maybe if you send me a pm i may be able to work out the reply button... who knows i may be able to mess that up as well. |

when i make a stealth shelf i have a plan the way i do it is cut the shelf and shape it so it looks like the old one make shure the shape is right also use some steel for the back then cut the holes for the speakers . then to cover i nomal use spray contact adhesive get that from any good car audio center with fabric then i spray the (MDF) some times i seal the (MDF) first then spray the fabric then (MDF) then give it about 5 mins and then pull it over the (MDF)then onces it drys i move on to the edges then do it the same way and stapled the fabric then on the corners i pull the fabric over then stapled |
