Had my 1.6 for a few weeks now.
Stinks of petrol CONSTANTLY. Running to rich. Has a nice backfire noise through the ashley exhaust though. lol

1. How do I fix that?


2. The engine is kinda lumpy. Vibrates the car way to much when it idles. Maybe still the rich fuel problem?


3. What oil is best to run in the car?


4. Is it worth gettin a ram pipe for a cold air feed? Debating on cuttin a hole in the slam wall from the fog light.

the only correct way to fix it is to take it to a mot place and find out if they have the correct equiptment to plug into the ecu and find out why its running too rich because it all works off the ecu. try putting STP injector cleaner down it. could be a injector problem.

use only 5/30 init. i found mine ran nice and sweet when i used the genuine ford oil filter and genuine oil.

it could be vibrating the car due to an engine mount or gerbox mount. had the same problem.

First give it a service. Use good quality parts.
ie bosch filters, ngk plugs, etc

Use 5/30 semi-synthetic oil.

If its still lumpy on idle, check sensors are ok, if temp sensor (on top of thermostat housing) is knackered that will make it over fuel or underfuel for that matter. same with air mass sensor and other sensors.

Also check leads are ok, lastly check coilpack. Easy way to check is swap it with someone with same car.

stop right there! u might get 10% of everything there but it will still be cheaper for you to do it yourself. And you'l learn in the process.

I supply parts to hundreds of garages everyday, and places like that among others use the cheapest quality parts they can get. Not to mention they will probably just whack 10/40 in it.

If revs keep dropping, try cleaning idle control valve. Theres a few guides on here.
