Should get away with it if you run 195/40/16 tyres

I had my Magnesium 16's on my Yellow Si lowered 40mm with 195/45/16 tyres and they didnt catch even on full lock but they were only 6.5J whereas alot of aftermarket alloy wheels will be a little wider than this

I'm not proud of my very old so and the 17 inch wheels, but I will mention it this once...

I had 195/45/15 and I would say there was about 30-35mm gap between the arch (as in the outer bit, not the inside directly above the tyre) and the tyre. so you might get away with it. My tyres did scrape the plastic engine guards on full lock though.

15's would be an easier upgrade. Wouldn't soil the accelorations and
handling so much either.

In diameter terms:
195/45/15 = 556mm
195/40/16 = 562mm
195/45/16 = 582mm

Hope this helps.
