I know they are basically the same apart from a few tweeks and it says DOHC on the series one and 16v Zetec on the series 2. But are there any noticeable differences? Tourque? Speed? Reliability? Noise? ![]() |

exactly the same engine iirc the series 2 zetec engine had some improvements done to the head to help with sticking valves which the series 1 zetec suffered from other than the rocker cover its pretty much the same engine |

So i recon series 2 is the best option for me then. As my Si gets sticky valves every now and then and makes it sound like a diesel. ![]() |

I do, but the previous owner of 14 years neglected it and it was never serviced it. And it's done 188,000miles so.. lol |

Fair enough, i guess it's also which one i can get hold of too. So if there is no real difference like power or reliability then either is best lol. Definately not the Series 3 though, way too much hassle aha |

black top can be done but it is hassle. if ya getting sticky valves then renew the oil and filter then run it for 500 miles and replace the oil and filter and it ashouldnt do it anymore. just make sure you keep on top of your oil changes thats all. (every 5000 miles) |

na the only thing different is revised valves and valve seats to stop the valves sticking. thats why the series 1 says DOHC on the cam cover and series 2 says Zetec |

well it dont matter the reason why the valves kept stricking was due to people werent keeping up with the oil changes. its every 5000 miles for each oil change and 5w/30 oil. keep ontop of that and a series 1 zetec wont have any problems with the valves. |
