im getting a 1.8 16v zetec engine (115bhp)

and was thinking of puttin it into my 1.4 si.

just wondering how hard would it be 2 do and what do i need to do it? i would want to get the most out of it aswel so would be wanting rs1800 bits.

and i understand that the zetec engine has 2 mounts on the drivers side whereas the cvh has 1.
but gary (bigg1985) looked earlier and theres holes there which he thinks could be for the zetec engine mount. ill try and get a pic so you guys can confirm this but im just after some more information if any1 can help i would appreciate it.

gary thinks it would be a fairly easy conversion. and i reckon theres probably more reliability and tuning potential than a 1.6 cvh conversion.

In your case, I wouldn't bother as bang for buck, there isn't much potential for them unless you want to delve a bit into your pockets.

I'd say get the 1.6 RST engine in there dude.

i think it will do 4 now thou.

115 bhp is better than 75 lol or with a few rs1800 mods 130bhp would be lovely.

and i cant find an rst cheap enough and local enough to use as a doner car.

Its basically the same process as fitting a 2 litre. Which there are many guides out there to follow. I think if you was to follow one of them, then you shouldnt have a problem :D

its the mounts and loom it is.

will the zetec loom plug straight into my 1.4 interior loom, what ecu would i need coz of pats?

and does the mounts bolt straight onto my chassis?

you wanna get either rs1800 ecu 2FDC or a XR3i 130 spec ecu 2FBC which is what im using

rear mount you will need to drill

same for front mount there are two holes that will need drilling out

also you need to change the car loom plug to zetec one

so i need zetec engine loom. and car loom plug (will that then easily wire onto my car loom?? doubt it lol)

are they awkward to drill out then??

y cant everything just bolt in like it would on a pug?? ffs! :x

mite be a bit easier on the 1.4 thou as it is more modern and has more sensors like lambda sensor n stuff.

what about pats thou? will i have to use a particular ecu?

not sure if this is exactly rightbut i think it stands for
electronic
distrubutorless
ignition system

older cars have a external unit on the engine bay wiring loom and newer ones had it as part of the ecu
