The horn on an si is useless. What's the legal limit db of a horn and.. Even if it's not legal what's the best one that will actually attract some attention and stop woman/van drivers cutting me up (well at least let them know I'm there and to stop swaying into my lane) oh and what's the cost.. Don't want to spend to much as it is only a horn.

Also, how easy are they to fit? Idiot proof? Or sort out a day with a mate who knows a bit about cars.. Like appentace mech mate. Lol

ive been looking into this as my horn is pathetic, like an asthmatic blowing up a balloon!!
I think van horns are louder and a direct replacement, i want to hear them though first before i commit to a certain model!!

Hmmm. Sounds good, i just want to know I was heard, and to scare people
more so maybe next time, they might check there mirrors and signal.. Making sure I'm not cut up? You'd be suprised how often it happens.

Will have to look into a van one, are we talking van like happypauls? Maybe he can tell us..

I want a Dixie horn eventually too

the only legal blurb i know of is that it must emit an audible CONTINIOUS tone. ..i.e if you have dual horns then they must work together and not create a 2 tone note. This also means shit like dixie horns are illegal as are the klaxon type (opposite tones)..nehh norr nehh norr...sorry about the best way i can describe it. :lol:

depending on the rating of the horns you fit. you may need to modify the circuit to incorporate a relay so you dont run the risk of starting an electrical fire with too much load on one meagre bit of ford wire. not a difficult job to anyone thats got half a braincell when it comes to electrics.

try a new type tranny horn..theyre quite loud

I knew the Dixie horns were illegal I thought because the tune it made but I understand the concept.

My dad hates it, but he still remembers electrics from years ago, so when I look onto it I'll ask him to help. Will have a look on eBay for the horn style you said. :thumbsup:

I had some in my fiesta which I do intend to fit to the C2, was a basic twin air horn with a small compressor and made a good amount of noise.

It was a universal system all you had to do was find out if you standard horn as activated by a +/- signal and wire it as per the instructions.

Truck horn might be a little OTT an the Dixie horns would definately be on a seperate switch. Why you glad you got rid of them?

edit - Oh and a mate said he migh. Be able to get hold of a 12v coach horn as he works on coaches. Probably about the same as a lorry nearly. But screw it

Ah fair. Well it'll amuse me for a while. I'll put it on the button that isn't doing anything. I have 4 , one by the heated screen is blank

I think a coach horn will suffice. Another woman nearly bashed me on a roundabout today because she couldn't seem to grasp what lanes your meant to be in for a roundabout. Would have loved to give her a blast for that
