Post subject: | Nitrous Oxide in 1.6 Si????? NOS!!!!!!! |
Hello, I have a 1994 ford fiesta 1.6 Si and I would like to fit a nos kit on it, however I know absolutely nothing about nos and would appreciate it if anyone could answer a few of my questions. Firstly, how does it exactly work? For example if I was at a set of traffic lights and just floored it from stationary when would the nos kick in? is it after a certain rpm? Or can it start as soon as you move? Also I have realised there are many different kits and different bhp jets? Again I have no idea of which one to get? I would like the best possible kit with the best power increase without damage to my car, can anyone reccommed what type of kit to get and what jets? I would also like a purge kit like in 2fast 2furious when it comes out from his arches, is that a nos purge kit or Co2 purge kit and what is the difference? Also how do these work? Are they triggered by a button or do they get triggered like a dumpvalve? and what do they do? Sorry for all the questions but I really would like to get nos in my car and it will be hard if I don’t know anything about it. also what do insurance companies say about it? any help will be greatly appreciated THANKS GUYS!!!! ![]() |

Chemistry: http://www.akamoto.co.uk/resource-how-n ... -works.htm Laymens terms: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question259.htm The nitrous acts as a catalyst when you mix it with air, it makes the air more dense, I think by cooling it, and denser air basically gives greater power. When its a very cool morning and you go out in your car, you might notice it feels more responsive. This is due to the increase in density of the air giving a greater bang. The nitrous is doing this, but on a much grander scale. I could waffle physics for ages, but its a bit unessescary. The nitrous would be injectored into the inlet at the flick of a switch. how this switch is switched on and off is down to you. Some people install a switch on their accelerator so when it's fully depressed, the nitrous is activated. Or you could have it on your steering wheels fast and furious style if you wish. Normally it's suggest you start with 25bhp jets, then upgrade to 50bhp if you wish, then 75, then 100. To be honest, I'd start with 25bhp and see how you go from there. Means your tank of N20 will last longer too. Depending on the condition of your engine, you could then progress to a 50bhp shot. Typically if you go higher than 50bhp, its suggested that you use a progressive controller to steadily increase the N20 injection rather than having a huge hunk of power coming in and potentially breaking the engine, or causing damage. Purge kits are something I don't really know about, but when you've hoofed out money for a sexy tank of N20, do you really want to just piss it out into the air? Would you fill your tank of fuel then and tip some out and light it just for show? I think you can get purge kits that dont expell N20 and a more cheap subtance is emitted. Alternativly, stick some Discoteque styleee smoke machines out the window ![]() Hope some questions are answered. |
