Right, im well fucked off lol. So sorry for any ranting/bad language and stuff.
Just now, was about to go get another sub for the car, was pulling out of my road, dont think i even turned the stereo on, i might have, cant remember, so anyway, next thing i hear is a loud screech as i was turning, and smoke pouring through the vents, behind the dash, under the footwells, and i was like FUCK ME! so just turned the engine off, hazards on, stopped, let all the smoke go away, popped up the bonnet, no smoke, all clean ect ect, so i was like 'oh...?' checked the tyres ect, nothing.
So started it up, checked everything, all good. Went to put the stereo on, didnt work, so went home, was like, 'hmm, it worked about 1min ago when i popped home' so i took it out, went to check the wiring, and the ACC wire had broke from the iso plug thing, the plastic its coated in is all melted, even down the iso to the ford loom its melted, but none of the ford loom itself is melted, so thats ok i guess. So yea, im like 'WTF!?' i smelt the back where the fan is on the headunit, and its got the lovely burning smell, plus some burn marks on the back.
So im like, oh, great! Anyway, being me, thought i would connect the wire back up, see what happened, dont it, ignition on, pressed the on button.. SMOKEEEEEE everywhere pouring out the fan bit, and from where the wires go into the headunit on the little plug, and then the ACC wire started smoking too.
So i just took it all out, burning myself in the process as the ACC wire was REALLY hot, but only from the headunit down to the ISO, not from the loom, to headunit.. So what would cause that to happen? I dunno, but all i know is im too scared to connect my other headunit now just incase it blows up.. and i would connect the standard ford one, but i dunno the code for it lol.
So.. thank you ladies and gentle men for reading my essay... lol. Im off to have a beer. Oh and any input to why it might have happened would be good.. prob found the answer by looking at it.. its ripspeed (now known as shitspeed) model: dv725.
