just a querie im hoping to get a quick answer from because i no theres already a load of threads about this but im still quite unsure

superchips... can i buy any one superchip and then get it remapped to suit my car? if so then where do i get it mapped?

or are they individual superchips that are made to specific cars? eg one type is for xr2i and another is for a fiesta si?

help apreciated guys :)

think generaly superchips are unique to each engine type ECU, they generally amend the orignal settings where they may have been designed to lean of the mixture at say around the magical 56mph where most manufactures state figures.
The new superchip bluefin can be remapped but not sure about the older ones or how much compared to new price listed as @£234

there seems to be hundreds of different ford ECU's as link


this chap seems to imply the chip should match the ECU,

if you are buying one secondhand may be worth asking what the chip code is

old school superchips are re flashable by a superchips dealer. but they will only really be able to cater for std ish engines..by that i mean std injection std or mild cams different exhaust air filters etc..nothing that will require massive alterations in the mapping. you can get a fully programmable chip which will be tailored to your spec. this will obviously need to be set up on a rolling road as it will come blank.

provided you give them your new ECU code i.e a 1.6 si one is GURU. say you have a 2.0 ecu. if you tell them its DEEP or either of the other two whatever you have. they can re flash it to the std superchip spec for that ecu.

I posted the details on another thread not so long ago about where to send your chip to get it mapped to another ecu code.. eg. 1.6 zetec GURU to 2.0 zetec DEWY.

Think it was £25 + VAT + Delivery to get it remapped.
