Got ONE month break of everything and some money saved up. Want to get my SI looking in top tip condition. So basiclly i need some pointers and help.

The shell:

Got some rust spots,

What would be the best way to get rid and make them areas in great condition ?

Got a few scratches generally around the key hole area on all doors and the back.

Would tea cut do the trick ? or do you have any other suggestions ?

I have just put some 15 inch alloys on it, i took them of the other day & the tyre has actually burnt through some plastic.

Spacers will deal with that ? or any other suggestions ?

Now comes the performance catagory.

Basiclly i was thinking about sticking the 1.6 Lump in it.

Exactly what bits do i need ? and prices of all the bits including what engine i need ? A list would be great cos i need to put the money aside.

Then once the engine is fitted, would i need to upgrade brakes ? If so how much and what kid will that set me back ?

All this information will be great, cos i have aload of people that can help me do the job just need to no the facts really.

The base is good, so all i can say is here comes the mods :thumbsup:

Rust - new rear panel welded in.
Scratches - you can try and polish them out but t-cut is only any good on light marks. If you can feel the scratch then it'll need spraying or touching up if you want a quick fix. These normally look worse than the actual scratch though!
Engine - 1.6 Zetec out of an Si, if so nob that idea off and just buy a 16v Si to start with, no point in trying to swap bits over. 1.6 CVH from a XR2i would be a bit easier but bare in mind you insurance will go up!

if youh ave some money saved up get the niggly bodywork bits sorted by a decent bodyshop. shouldn't cost alot (if you feel confident in doing it yourself)
your tyre profile likes a little chunky i'm guessing 195/55/15? 45's are ideal but 50's will do. these plus some small spacers would be your best option...if thats abit costly at the minute then i suggest ripping the plastic bit out, or cutting around the particular area your having problems with.
Scratches - best giving it some elbow grease. t-cut isn't always the best substance to use, maybe try something a little more aggressive. i did know a very harsh one but completely forgot the name.

engine you need is from an RSTurbo fiesta (1.6 8v Turbo'd CVH engine 130bhp) or Xr2i (same as prev no turbo 110bhp). im not exactly clear on what you need, but to save spending time/money deciding exactly what you need might be easier to find a donor car/complete engine/ecu/loom setup from somewhere.
Brakes are always adviseable when upgrading power but you will get away with renewing your discs/pads, ensuring everything is in good working order....

Cheers =) Well i don't really want to get another car, i've done alot on this one and put some money into it, so i'm defo going to keep this car for a long time, on going project :D

So none of that will be a problem

1.6cvh xr2i engine, get everything off an old scrappy 2i for cheap, drop it in.
rust, weld up the back panel, try getting rid of any other rust by sanding it and filling if you dont want to weld it all.

scratches as said above, t cut and polish

brakes, you can spend 100 and have some awesome brakes.
