Anyone know anything about puttin a 1.6 8v xr2i lump into my 1.4 Si??

is it just the engine and ecu or have i gota change the loom etc??? im thinking of doin this 2 mne next year, depending on how hard it is!

without looking into it to far, i am gonna say it would probably all fit and work on a 1.4 ecu and loom, but if you want to trick it to work with the 1.6 xr2i ecu you'll need to get a wiring diargram to bypass the PATs in you SI , but i dont have much knowledge on the CVH fiesta SI's can anyone add to this?

surely tho, if he used the xr2i ECU the PATS would be non existant anyways?

or is it external PATS on these fiestas?

well the last early xr2i i sat in, didnt have pats, just some aftermarket immobiliser,
the fiesta si 1.4 i assume is external pats (same as the 1.6)
as far as i am aware a non pats ecu wont work on an external PAT loom(i dont know about internal)(i tried soooo many different ecu's when i put the rs1800 lump in my fez), it sends the wrong signals down the wrong wires so you would need a pin out of an xr2i loom so that you can match the pins on the xr2i ecu and bypass pats? (assuming that ford didnt revise the connectors on the later cvh engine in the si)

if i was to used the 1.4 ecu thou, i wudnt get the full xr2i performance wud i?

All mk3 fiestas ecus are external pats. In fact any ford up untill 96ish has external pats.

Its just internal or external EDIS that makes the difference.

Not hard, and there are plenty of xr2i's to strip for the loom
