| Post subject: | Fiesta Si with XR2i Side Skrits & Arches |
Hey all. I recently bought some side skirts and arches from an XR2i off of Ebay, and going to re-spary then and fit them to my Fiesta Si. I've noticed though, that the rear arches are naturally flared (well, a little bit anyway!) and I'm wondering if the rear arch flares will sit flush with the rear bumber. If the do not, then how far out of line do they sit and is there anything I can do to modify/correct the arches/bumbers to flush them back into place? Another point I would like advice on is the fact that I have some small amounts of rust on my rear arches, would it be recomendable to remove it, respray it a little and then fit the new arches or is it fine to leave it rusting away under the arches? Sorry to have gone on for so long, and thanks for taking the time to read it. Peace. |

about the rust......the best bet would be to cut it out or rust cure it.....then whack on aload of underseal i think doesnt need to be perfect as you dont see it but just stop it spreading |

i put xr2i skirts and arches on mine the other week, they do stick out a bit but u can bring the bumpers out so that the sit flush with the arches. i had rust on my back arches aswell mate, but it was still solid so i just painted mine with kurust and hammerite then put the kit over the top of it. gona put sum underseal on the inside of the arches aswell soon just to make sure it doesnt spread. but if the actual arch is falling apart and breaking off nd stuff then get it cut out, but if its just surface rust just rub it bk nd paint it |

do as said above. personally i would just cut the whole arch out and leave enough to stick the kits to, gets rid of the rust, but I have a habit of this due to wanting to run wider wheels. |

Ok, I'm proberbly going to sound pathetic, but I don't want to cut my car apart, it's a really rare condition one. Full service history and 1 previous old lady owner. Due to this, I'm trying not to modify the car in a way that'll be un-reversable. I know I'm contradicting myself by fitting arches and side skirts, but they do look good. How far out do the arches stick from the bumper (like, 1 inch)? Sorry to keep asking questions, but I am a novice when it comes to things like this. |

If your gonna stick your arches on, if you ever want to pull them off, it would pull the paint off most likely... if its such a good example, I would keep it with no arch kit, maybe just the rs accessory skirts - also then you dont look like EVERY other mk3 fiesta on the road

I think I'll blend with the crowd and fit the full side and arch kit. I think there are no screws or anything to fit the kit with. Got it today and there are a few rusty looking screws and bolts in some of the bits but that's it. Are they suposed to have a lot of fittings or do (can?) you attach them with some sort of adhesive glue? Anyone got a picture of the RS accessory side skirts? Thanks. |

They originally fitted to the XR/RS models with them rivets/screws. Cut them off your kit completely so you can glue it flush tom your bodywork

Glue it is then. Any recomendations on what particular type to use? And would it be worth sandind the areas where the glue is going to make it attach better? Just assuming gloss paint isn't the best surface for gluing plastic trim to. I really appriciate all the help and advice you guys are giving me, it is really helpful. Just don't want to make a hash of this as once it's on it's not coming off. |

Tigerseal or Sickaflex type is what I have used Just make sure the back of the kit and the panel is clean and free from crap ![]() Screw or rivet the skirt kit into the sill

and to remove excess sealant spray some wd40 onto a rag and then wipe off with that, id wear some latex gloves to do it all though as its a bastard to get off your hands once dry. |
