HI guys well ive been toyin with the idea of turbo'in the zetec nd now im trying to make it reality so if anyone is able to help me then it would be great, i really need direction in most areas so i can get rough idea on prices and wat i need

welll her we go .

wats best capacity to run 2l / 2.1

wat pistons to use/ conrods, ect,

turbo, feeds ect,

wat injectors do i need, fuel pumps and any other info, ?

if i was to run uprated cams too is there any kit in perticular that i should use or do i need to get custom ons made

does battery and tray have to be relocated????

i really need a complete list of parts needed ect so i can give it to the guy i kno who bores engines ect so he can look thro nd posssible find different parts to use or even bettta ones so i need rough ideas on compression ratios ect!! as tbh i have had look around but nt really found anywhere , where all this information is available!

ideally i want turbo prject to be as cheap as possible but i dnt want to comprmise realiabilty so thats why i dnt want to use shim plate in the head/block . i want to have nice healthy power output aswell ! and maybe bit of room for inprovement but for time being i jst one good base output lol !!

thanksso much guys look forward to ur replies of help! :D

Easiest capacity is prob a 2.1, that lowers the compression ratio, and then you can get new pistons/rods at same time. And saves using a spacer plate. As for what compression ratio i dont know but i suppose that will depend on spec.

a t3 would probably be sufficient with a escort t3 manifold.

Turbo oil feed is easy, t piece on oil pressure switch WITH INLINE FILTER, return you need a hole tapped into block ideally or sump.

injectors, maybe use rs turbo inlet, and rs turbo injectors and rail or apparantly you can get nissan 200 something injectors in zetec fuel rail.

escort cossie fuel pump? rs turbo? not 100% on this one

battery tray shouldnt need to be removed

i found is quite helpfull.

people seem to use Calibra pistons which require boring out to 2.1ltr, think you need to mod something on them tho, this is cheaper than buying brand spanking new things which would cost you 500+ alone.

you need to think about which management you want to use.
if you want to use the OFAB off the RS Turbo, with a chip to run higher boost and be able to get it mapped (which will cost you 500ish to get mapped properly, I think a place called MSD is where people go to for OFAB stuff) you can then use the RS Turbo engine wiring loom, inlet, throttle body etc

Or you could run megasquirt with the zetec loom and get it mapped yourself or other people cheaper, or you can use OMEX etc etc which will cost moneys, but if going to do proper balls out I would go for OMEX or another top class kit like that/

If you keep the zetec inlet you can fit nissan s13 injectors, but have to be side fed ones, not top fed ones, as I found the top fed ones sell for less, gutting. The Focus RS injectors fit in perfect and they run up to around 260bhp (I think, I am going to use either nissan or the focus ones preferebly)

Think of clutch, at least a 4 paddle one, which brand new is 250+

If your running mega power then an uprated excort cosworth fuel pump is great, I am using the standard escort cossie pump as I am only aiming for 200bhp at most with my decomp setup on the 1.8

battery tray cut out, with battery moved to the boot would make some extra space, as remember its going to be tight with the extra boost pipes running around the bay, then if the battery is out of the way.. you can place the filter in that general area
but you can get away with keeping it in there. personally I would move it for extra space, as its cramped enough.

cams.. you can use any zetec cams, fast road ones etc etc, ian howwel (sp?) has got some special zetec turbo cams, but I think these are better for like 300+ silly bhp engines

oil feeds. braided oil feed from where cookie said, to the turbo, then another feed from the turbo. easiest way is to weld a section onto the sump to return the oil to, but make sure its just above the oil in the sump.

you will need to block the front engine breather off unless you use a manifold other than the escort one, as that blocks it. so therefore you need to drill either 1 or 2 holes in the back of the engine block, make some takes offs from them into a breather pot along with the cam cover breather.

hmm cant think of much else right now.. :)

what paul said is good,

yes, if using the front breather or have any breather going into manifold you need a one way breather valve.
Otherwise you be putting all that boost into the inside of the engine! Not a good idea.

Any boost pipe needs a lip otherwise youl be blowing hoses off all day.

Prime the turbo!

Use a good quality air filter/oil filter oil etc

You drill and tap them in, can get pipes made up at fabricators, I think there is some on ebay for sale.. or there was last week.

Then connect pipes up and take them to a breather pot along with the cam cover breather
