I'll be planning to do this conversion in my Si when I get it (it's the 1.6 Zetec version) I just have a few questions....

I used to own Escorts, so know a few bits about the 2.0 conversion.

I'm thinking along the lines of fitting a blacktop Zetec - has this been done before? I've been told it's a much more reliable engine, and responds better to tuning. Now, on the Escort, apparently one of the engine mount bolts is a few mm out, but this can be rectified quite easily - does anyone know if this applies to the Fiesta as well? Also, what starter position is required for the Fiesta?

I then get to inlet manifold choices - I'm aware the 2.0 Mondeo inlet won't fit, it's the same with the Escort, but will the plastic manifold from a 1.8 Escort fit? Also, is there enough space for the Rover manifold in the Fiesta as well?

the black top engine can be fitted but as to what's required to make it fit i'm not sure

i think there is issues with the water pump as well as engine mounts, but i'm not 100% as everyone just drop's a silver top in for ease

fiesta's have front mounted starters

the 1.8 escort manifold fits, but a member (lowsi) had one fitted to his and idle was utter crap and it never really worked properly, there is enough space for a rover inlet as a few ZT fiesta's are running them

thats all i can think of, not a very helpful or informative post :red:

when doing the 2.0 conversion, the 2.0 mondeo pump goes the wrong way changing the belt wont help so the 1.6 water pump is fitted ;) as that flows the correct way

Il let you know how i get on with mounting the bracket for the blacktop lump soon ish, and any other problems i come accross and get pics.
Looks pretty dam simple comparing them, just one mount in the middle... just need get someone handy with a welder.

Im having issues with the way the belt runs on the blacktop engine, might need too add some pulleys here and there as everything is in a different spaces, and im not gnna have a p/s pump pulley etc

Onslack, what you say bout changing the pump is only applicable too silver tops, all bt engines 'turn the wrong way'
