With a De-cat i'd imagine you'd be pushing about 105bhp or something.

by one group as a 2ltr mondeo is ony group 9. not matter what he does it will push the insurence up |

Well the head is the main resriction on the 1.6 si so I could imagine a decent gain from sorting that. As above a 2.0 is the best ? = BHP gains you will get.

Insurance is a bit backwards, as above they do take the car the engine is out of, funny as the 2.0 out powers the RS1800 and that is group 14 I believe. |

Yeah, but it's also the name isnt it. An "RS1800" has more appeal to thieves I guess, than an Si. I wonder what the companies would say if you stuck a 2ltr in an RS1800 then? 
"Errr, so your car is group 14, but the engine you're putting in is from a group 9, which means we should lower the cars insurance group, but means we lose out on money, but also you're badged up as a group 14, so we have to.....ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!"

It will drop to a 1.0 status with body mods I assume. With that you have to get an engineers report saying it has been done. Otherwise we couldall just say we have put 1.0s in and save on insurance

The mondeo V6 lump wont fit. Thats not to say that someone one day wont squeeze one in though. Look out for the standard 2.0L out of a mondeo 1995-1997 year, with as low millage as you would expect from a car of that age. Will fit straight in. |
