I had a K&N bolt on filter on my 1.3 HCS, all it did that i noticed was made more noise, thats it, perhaps a tiny bit of change/improvement in responsiveness, cant remember... all i remember was the noise lol.

Worth it? Perhaps, if you want it for a better looking engine bay perhaps if the rest is clean.

But each to their own, i would just drill the airbox round the back for starters, probably get the same effect of noise

Yeah you are meant to drill them round the side, so the air goes through the cleaner not over it. Doesn't matter what size holes you drill, a few half inch holes will do nicely taking that off will affect winter start slightly - well the idea it being there is to help it in the winter by dragging warm air in before it closes itself shut, but to be honest, it shouldn't affect it that much really... I don't see why it would. It would reduce resistance to airflow slightly too, plus maybe give you more noise.

Aint gunna bother buying the k&n element... the fiesta air filters are like 3-4 quid from halfrauds with the old trade car so even if i buy 10 itll still be cheaper lol
And to tell the truth i dont want this car for much longer :/

Yeah get the drill out! It doesnt cost anything so you might as well do it for a bit of extra noise to make it sound slightly better lol

I didnt realise how small your air filter was compared to the 1.3 ones lol. I can see the edges of it! My old 1.3 i had, the air filter used to fit snug around the edges. My bad lol

pah on that pic, imagine the back of the airbox angle grinded off to fit a xr2i strut brace

well i got the k&N filter and put it on, and tbh the 1st time ive actually was impressed with the little hamster under the hood it actually pulled me bck in the seat abit and was alot more responsive but not good in the winter im afraid.
but it does sound really good tho.
