I hate not knowing what way to go. The cars running sweet at the moment and dont want to complicate things by messing about with it but at the same time want abit more power from it

theres a few cossies running bodies and boost. The Reyland EsCos springs to mind there.. the only thing that is going to give you problems with putting a supercharger in a fiesta is space. Rotrex are small but the neccesary bracket for a zetec i would have thought will have to be a custom item. then you have the fun of sorting out a drive belt with the neccesary length and idlers to give it a good wrap on the important pulleys as there isnt really room to run another belt in there. the only option really available would be something like the jackson racing kit available from the states. which i think is a roots type blower. but its meant for a focus which uses a different belt setup again and has more room. im not saying dont do that, not at all just make sure you measure and plan and do all the homework if your going to go that way.

for absolute ease something like a throttle body kit would be ideal. comes with instructions... looms done. put the bits together. plug it in. basic setup on your part. make sure theyre balanced. fitting them on is literally a morning job once its all built up. then take it to have it mapped properly by people who know what they are doing rather than the hit and miss of doing it yourself. its alot more money im not denying that. but for what you want, more power. same reliablitly and less hassle. the kits have been tried and tested. theyre known to work. its not that you cant do bodies on the cheap. it boils down to how much you want to spend in getting more power.

im with paul on the doing a ZT properly. and it wont be playing on your mind that you have this plate glued to your block! reliablitly generally comes at a cost. it doesnt have to be a massive cost. but overall its down the the techniques and quality of parts used. if theres bits you dont want to take off again dont skimp essentially.

ive heard of gotech management but im not familiar with it.

Thanks for the info guys.
Well my mind is on throttle bodys.
But there is somthing about a turbo that atracts me.
I am curentlty training for the army and 1nce i am in i will be a mechanical engineer . And will have a hole workshop to play with and some cash to play with also. So i may still build a ZT.

But a proper ZT like of which you speak.
It just takes a lot of planning finding out wot works better then others etc etc.
The same time tho i will have 4 year to figure it out lol.

I have a few quiiestions about turbo's.
so wot mods could i do to keep down lag bar the obvius of anti lag.
and wot would be the affects on reliability from any of these mods.

and dalsy helped build a supercharged zetec looked a wicked pice of kit.

To get less turbo lag use a smaller turbo. Which then restricts top end power. But you'll have good low down torque if it boosts early.

Anti lag, using it all the time will kill your turbo and maybe engine.

Just be aware with any ZT engine, if something goes... it'll go with style.

Lukes 2.1 monster as seen in various magazines recently shat itself.. and that was by no means a cheap ZT, and something so simple as an oil pump made the whole engine useless.

So bear in mind, ZT more chance of going tits up. compared to throttle bodies.

Supercharger your still going to have to lower the comp ratio, with either forged pistons you would use in a turbo, or decomp. Again doing it on the cheap has the same problems as a ZT setup.

And as Jam said, space for the charger.. Ive seen it done... and it didnt look too bad.

Have a search on FT, I'm sure Sunil was looking at doing it. It's not a straight match. :look:

Throttle bodies are the safe bet, but i dont think iam going to be happy until its running boost.

Hmmm, i got a quote from Jam-sport for £3K for bolt on turbo.

Escort T3 turbo and manifold
Modified cylinder head to accept Escort manifold
Intercooler
Boost pipe work
Gotech mfi pro ecu and adaptor loom
Oil return
Labour to fit

I really want to do this myself, given that otherwise its gonna cost silly money, but dont want to balls it up and have to shell out money to correct it
