Well my project for after Ford Ford 09 over the winter when cars off the road is going to be i think to turbo my 2.0 zetec. The budget will be £1500 and i want to do this myself with someone that has much better mechanical knowledge then me. Can you help me list all the parts i need for the conversion. I know i need the manifold with turbo, RST loom and ECU, intercooler, oil return, injectors ?, RST inlet ?

You can run zetec inlet with some sidefed jap injectors... I was looking at 2.0ltr Focus inlet manifold, and run FRST beige top fed injectors, no faffing ;)
Either run OFAB RST loom and get it mapped up, or run aftermarket like OMEX or Megasquirt. Megasquirt would be the cheaper option.
Oil return to sump is easy.
Oil from t peice on regulator is easy. Braided hose to turbo.
Decomp plate for the cheaper option.

turbo.me.uk is helpful.

I really wanna do the pickup but I cant be arsed with the hassle..

Ive got some bits for sale which you may be interested in for your project mate :) (T3 turbo with ERST manifold with Zetec flange welded on, full stainless T3 exhaust..)

Also mates got a ZT 2.1 engine for £550ono for sale with forged pistons in, oil return breather in block etc :hmm: (then you'd have your n/a engine safe :P ) lol

just buy a good decomp plate. Dont run daft boost and get the fueling right. Should be okay then. Or buy my mates 2.1 engine for 500 and you have forged goodness and you will only need turbo injectors ecu downpipe intercooler and pipes. Lol

nobody seems to want it right now but its just sat there waiting to be used. It'll drop straigt in. Fit a manifold to it with some bigger injectors. Fit turbo manifold. Ecu wise if you went megasquirt you can use the zetec wiring. Wouldnt be too hard to do. Turning your own engine into turbo is a tad harder and more messing about. But do able

With a properjenvey throttle body setup on a 2.0ltr with cams and obviously aftermarket management your looking at up to around 180bhp

With bike bodies you will have a lot less spending, but aim around 170ish or so depending :thumbsup:

webber alpha is also another option. this does use an aftermarket ecu and loom but you can only have it mapped by an approved webber agent with the corresponding software where as omex etc can be done just about anywhere. theres not much in it price wise. both are around the 1500 plus the dreaded vat. youll also need to factor in a remap. the ecu will come with a base map to get you running but it wont be bang on for your engine. budget upto 450 quid for that

bike bits are as said alot cheaper to use. theres some handy FAQ's on jenveys website. things like dont make the manifold too short and how to choose a size thats right for your application. altho for your level of tune 45's will be sufficeint if your using the proper bodies. you can also if you want to buy it in bits. i.e bodies one month. injectors and loom the next etc etc and spread the cost out that way.

being a road car you might want to consider an enclosed airbox to try and silence some of the induction noise. great for blasting it about but the induction noise can become somewhat tedious on a longer run. and dont get a kit with 90 odd mm deep filters. they will foul the bulkhead. aim for about 75mm

my standard 2litre on motorbike throttle bodies using standard ford ECU proven 150bhp @ £175

i think this is the limit of using the standard ECU, however estimate;
same motorbike throttle bodies set up with aftermarket ECU 160bhp megasquirt £400 omex/emerald ECU £800 but think the megasquirt route cheaper but needs knowledge to programme.
ported head, rod bolts and cams 185bhp extra £800 + ECU reprogramme plus above costs.
at this state still should be reliable, but not the ultimate power of a turbo. using Jenvey or AT throttle bodies not a great advantage over motorbike converted ones as do the same job just easier as a basic bolt on job and plug and play preprogrammed ECU but as said above £1500.

Megasquirt from a reliable source is looking at £340

Can get them built for as cheap as 200 tho.

Or build one yourself for 100.

But then you need AFR guage and sensor anyway, which is around 150.
