Would rs2000 disc's make much difference to standard si ones?

Simply increasing disc size makes the braking worse.

This is because your calipers are applying the same amount of preasure, to the same area, but the added dispersed weight increases centripetal force increasing the "flywheel" momentum effect.

I maintain that a better pad compound will provide the best brake upgrade, followed by calipers ;)

Increase the calipers too much, and you'll induce locking, therefore equating to a waste of time and hard-earned :)

Uprated discs compliment uprated calipers :)

Yeah rob has found out this on his xr2i, that the grooved uprated discs for a rs2000 with the rs2000 calipers work ok, but the brake pad compound is limiting it somewhat, i have recomemded uprated pads to give it a good kick

oh sorry i ment changing the cal's to :) not just the discs.

they both would be off a rs2000 friends donor car.

With the alloys ive got (deep dish ones) the guy who i got them off said he couldnt get cossy ones in them, so i was thinking of the rs ones as basically i can get a set, and they' d fill the alloy abit more than just uprated ones :)

so would i gain with that combo then? than standard discs.

Just had a thought while im thinking of rs2k calipers/discs.

would the mk of the rs2000 series make a difference to the size of calipers etc? or are they all the same?

thanks
steve

Cant offer a specific opinion on the RS2000 upgrade as got Cosworth ones, but would think that as they are only 20mm larger and still with single piston sliding calipers you could get an equally decent improvement by upgrading pads and braded hoses without increasing unsprung weight. My cosworth brakes with the standard small diameter servo is a bit of a mismatch resulting in softer peddle with longer travel and only come into their own when warmed up and then they are great with no fade lap after lap.
